Hunting for food took up a lot of time for Post hands as shown in these journal entries.

24-05-20Remainder of men were sent off trouting and hunting but they only got a few trout and a good soaking.
09-09-20The White Fox left on a week's seal hunt.
26-09-20The Nannuk arrived from Frobisher Bay about noon bringing a load of fresh meat, seal, walrus and deer which they got on a hunt in Frobisher Bay, it being impossible to work the Nannuk owing to a storm which was raging at the time. They report being plenty of deer around that district.

Jamassie "B" arrived early this morning with his team and left again early in the afternoon in the direction of the deer hunters to try his luck.
07-12-20M.L. Manning accompanied by Jim Palliser, Isheuktuk, Adam, and Narluktuk left about 9 o'clock this forenoon for the deer country where they intend staying until Saturday. The main object of this trip is to obtain dog feed as owing to the scarcity of seals, of which there are only a few on the Post, it has been found necessary to obtain a good supply of deer for this purpose.
13-12-20M.L. Manning and W.J. Peters visited their traps this forenoon and managed to bring back 2 partridges to show from their trouble. Isheuktuk arrived late in the afternoon from his visit to the people ­ he was accompanied by Okkoleuk who intends going on a deer hunt in a day or two.
18-12-20The deer hunting party arrived from the country about 4 o'clock with three loads of deer meat. Mattheuse arrived early this afternoon to trade while Okkoleuk came in later from the deer country after a successful hunt.
18-04-21Jas. Palliser, Sandy, Sargieuktuk, and Kipernik set off this morning for a deer hunt and will be gone about a week.
