Frank Melton

Born Grimsby, England, Melton entered HBC service 05 08 1916 at age 29. He clerked at Cape Dorset until 1918 and is listed as Post Manager at Cape Dorset until 1920. The Lake Harbour Post journal has Melton there between 09 09 20 and 08 10 20 , arriving on the Daryl and leaving on the Nascopie "on her return journey". Melton celebrated his 33rd birthday while at Lake Harbour and was guest of honour when a presentation was made to him "by Rev. A.L. Fleming as a token of our appreciation of the event."

Melton's personnel record shows him as post manager at Amadjuak 1921 to 1924, Wolstenholme 1925 to 1931, Great Whale River 1931 to 1936, Povungnetuk 1937 to 1939 and Wolstenholme 1940 to 1945, reflecting 29 years of continuous service. He died in 1969.

Millward (p.44) reported, in winter of 1921-22, a MacMillan party member travelled from Amadjuak Post to Amadjuak Lake with "Mr. Mellon, the Hudson's Bay Company agent at that point", and, (p.58) in April 1924, Burwash, after traversing from Cumberland Sound to Amadjuak met "Mr. Frank Mellon" who was in the country from Amadjuak Post caribou hunting.
