Snow

Back to Weather Page

Snow was an accepted fact of life in Lake Harbour and didn't seem to present any great problems for the Post. In late winter it was necessary to remove excess snow from buildings and ships and it was banked against buildings for increased insulation in the early winter. Snow increased access to the interior and permitted travel between posts. Most of the snow fell after December and stopped by the end of April.

These 11 journal entries, surprisingly few, specifically deal with snow.
Sea and freshwater ice entries appear limited to periods during freeze-up and thaw.
