It is nearly impossible to discover who actually made the entries and amateur handwriting analysis proves difficult as some days' entries are in more than one hand. References to "Mr. Stewart" were probably written by someone else while those that refer to him as "S.J. Stewart" may be made by him. The lack of personal pronouns is also remarkable; "we" appears only four times; "us" twice; "them" five; while "I" doesn't appear at all.
Other personal notes are missing from the record. Frank Melton's 33rd birthday and the birth of James Palliser's son are the only social events noted other than Christmas.

This transcription of the daily log kept at Lake Harbour between 01 May 1920 and 31 May 1921 is edited as follows:
1. Eskimo and Eskimos, natives, and other euphemisms replaced by Inuit;
2. Weather notations removed and presented in a separate file
3. Arrivals and departures notations removed and presented in a separate file
4. Illegible handwritten words or letters are enclosed in [square brackets]
5. Original spellings and grammatical usages are preserved
6. A small monthly calendar is added for convenience
